• Single particle analysis of DNA binding proteins. One publication associated so far with these projects.
• Single particle and electron crystallography analyses of membrane proteins. Dr. Stahlberg’s laboratory is part of the Center for Structures of Membrane Proteins (http://csmp.ucsf.edu/index.htm). This resulted so far in one publication.
• I participated in the development of an algorithm to automatically detect crystal lattice for two-dimensional crystals. This project has led to one publication.
• During this period I also wrote three reviews. One on single particle techniques and two on electron crystallography of membrane proteins, and I taught sample preparation for electron microscopy during the EMS/MCB 230 master’s course.
• I am the lab manager, responsible for maintaining stocks and ordering products. I also manage undergraduate students.
• Set up and fulfilled structure function relationship projects involving synaptic proteins and/or their structural homologues. These projects resulted in two publications.
• Solved two crystal structures in collaboration with Dr. Yves Bourne (AFMB, Marseille, France). These structures not yet published could result in two publications.
• Contributed to the development of the ESTHER database (http://bioweb.ensam.inra.fr/ESTHER/general?what=index). This contribution resulted in two publications and one oral presentation during an international conference.
• Supervised trainees at the undergraduate level.
• Purified, analyzed physico-chemically and functionally, and crystallized two macromolecules implicated in the architecture or the functioning of cholinergic synapses.
• The results of this six months research allowed me to write a research project for the PhD and obtain fellowships from “Association France Alzheimer” and “Association Française contre les Myopathies”.
